Brooklyn Nets Tickets
Fans in the Garden State have been cheering on the New Jersey Nets for years, and with their relocation to Brooklyn in 2012, the Nets hope to expand their fan base and establish themselves as a team to be reckoned with in the tough Atlantic Division. Competing with the likes of the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics, the new-look Nets are poised to be fighting for the division crown, led by NBA All-Star guard Deron Williams and center Brook Lopez.
Brooklyn Nets History
One of the original 11 American Basketball Association teams, the Brooklyn Nets have moved around the New York metropolitan area frequently since starting in 1967. While the Nets were one of the top teams in the ABA, they struggled upon entering the NBA in 1976. However, the team made several trips to the postseason in the ensuing years, and eventually became an Eastern Conference powerhouse, including two consecutive trips to the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003 led by the dynamic trio of Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson, and Kenyon Martin.
Starting in 2008, the Nets went through a tough transition phase, eventually trading away stars Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson and acquiring younger talent to rebuild the team. With the drafting of center Brook Lopez in the 2008 NBA Draft, the Nets were optimistic about the future of the team, and in 2010, the Nets signed talented, but unproven forward Kris Humphries, giving them a sizable front court duo. Despite consecutive losing seasons, the Nets made a blockbuster trade in 2011 to acquire Deron Williams from Utah. In the following season, the Nets traded for forward Gerald Wallace from Portland at the trade deadline, and also acquired NBA All-Star guard Joe Johnson from Atlanta and signed veteran guard Jerry Stackhouse during the summer. The Nets have built a solid core of players to help lead the team to not only their first playoff berth since 2007, but also towards becoming an Eastern Conference powerhouse for many years to come.
